SUMMER FALLS AND OTHER STORIES: STORY 1 Summer Falls is a very strange story. The main link between this and Doctor Who is a character called Barnabus, a museum curator who may or may not also be the Curator. It’s hard to review Summer Falls, as it isn’t like a Doctor Who story at all. So, I’ll treat it as what it is. An ordinary adventure tale, with helpings of fantasy thrown in. The way the novella is written is very interesting. It’s stylised as being from the 1950s, and this writing style adds to the story, not hinders. However, the plot is confusing and badly handled. The cause of all the strange events that befall Kate isn’t properly explained, which is what was really needed to give Summer Falls a satisfying ending. Overall, Summer Falls is a sweet but odd little curio, which doesn’t really work, but is a fun, brisk experience. Like Liked 0
