Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time!

“SOMETHING BORROWED: FOUR PAGES OF NOTHING”

Something Borrowed is a difficult story to analyse because, frankly, there’s not much to it. Across just four pages, the Eleventh Doctor visits a starliner, encounters a trio of space criminals who are more irritating than intriguing, and retrieves an item he once lent to a friend. That’s the entire plot—no twists, no stakes, and no real point.

OBLIGATORY CHARACTERS, BUT NO CHARACTER

The three new characters are introduced, but their personalities don’t extend beyond generic, obnoxious dialogue. They feel like an attempt at youthful energy, but their speech patterns are more like a misguided impression of teenagers from an out-of-touch adult. Meanwhile, Alice is present but completely sidelined, and Sapling is nowhere to be seen.

NO TENSION, NO HUMOUR, NO PURPOSE

There’s no real tension in the story, no meaningful character moments, and not even a solid joke to make up for the lack of substance. The setting itself is barely explored, and the entire story feels more like a throwaway scene rather than a self-contained narrative.

📝VERDICT: 5/10

Something Borrowed is, unfortunately, an utterly forgettable story. It fails to deliver anything substantial, whether in plot, character development, or humour. It’s a rare instance where even the Doctor himself feels like an afterthought.
