Hmm. Not bad. Not bad.

So Big Finish will probably do DORS with the 1st-3rd Doctors, but at the time of reviewing, this is the first time the Doctor met River Song. So I was quite disappointed to know that the Doctor already knows her. I mean, it is in service of the story, but I was a little underwhelmed, especially because I wanted 5-8 to act like this and then have River wipe only 8's memory, giving Silence in the Library that impact of him not knowing River. However, I do enjoy the brief interactions between them. Also, Tom Baker saying "Hello Sweetie" was the highlight of the episode.

The Discordia feel very underdeveloped - Their cover design looks great, and they do have some interesting character moments against River, especially the guy who wants to marry her (what's that about?), but it didn't feel like that they had much to do. They were just changing time to stop people fighting against them, but why were they fighting them in the first place? I did like the idea of them changing time whenever it suited them, but I wish there were more repercussions to their actions as shown before in stories such as Father's Day or Turn Left.

The side plot of the rebels was a bit pointless, felt like padding and giving something for the Doctor to do as he's not the main character - River is. However, the characters were all interesting and had a nice backstory when they were given one.

A decent story, but doesn't really amount to much for anyone except closing off Series 4. The problem with River's encounters with the Classic Doctors, as I mentioned previously, is she always has to wipe their memory now and therefore there can't be any after effects which change the Doctor's life. If they just wiped 8, then A) They wouldn't have to deal with all that introduction, B) They'd be able to develop the Doctor's relationship even more with River and C) River would still be so heartbroken in Silence of the Library when the Doctor didn't know who she was.
