Arriving on a space station thats 60 minutes out of sync for tax reasons, the Tardis team find themselves attending a funeral. The Doctor came looking for crystals, but the recently deceased had a large fortune left to his next of kin.  The family are made up of part clones, and unfortunately, they keep dying…

This is very much a light hearted adventure, its easy going and has a number of fun aspects. It might not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for something not too deep then this will do. It reminds me of Bang Bang a Boom! A lot of characters each with their own motives and seemingly reasons for murder.

I am a fan of murder mysteries, Columbo, Death in Paradise so for me I enjoyed this. It has been mentioned its a take on the film Kind Hearts And Coronets, I’ve never watched it but this as with that the family are all played by the same person.

There’s a nice part with the Doctor confined and talking to a robot and reflecting on his life. Tegan having the chance at romance.

I listened to this a month ago and found I haddn't finished what I was writing. Now I'm struggeling to remember.

Its Ok.

not much to say about this one other than its a standard murder mystery, but that doesnt mean its not good. all a murder mystery really needs is engaging side characters and this has them in spades. its also not really predictable and does a unique twist involving time travel in the reveal of the murderer.

one of the most intriguing bits of this audio is a potential romance between tegan and one of the side characters. its a real softer side to tegan that i enjoy

This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.

Previous Story: Ghost Walk

Fairly predictable but by no means generic. It follows the usual murder-mystery story beats but with a nice timey-wimey twist on it. The characters are, for the most part, fun. The only exception to this are the brothers Paul and Peter. They were infuriating and I was genuinely glad when they died although it was unfortunately far into the story.

This story starts with the Doctor arriving on a planet to collect a specific type of crystal to build a new sonic screwdriver, this plan is not realised however as he gets wrapped up in a murder mystery. I found the Doctor to have a very entertaining role in this, but he isn't really the star of the show. The main focus here is on Tegan.

Tegan's romance in this story is very interesting. You get a nice insight into her character, something that is sorely lacking on TV. I don't want to raise the expectations too high though as Big Finish has done much better character explorations for this team elsewhere, especially Tegan.

The way the story is wrapped up is very satisfying if a bit confusing, I'm not really sure the paradox makes the most sense even as a paradox but it's forgivable and makes for a very poetic ending, the villain dies by the very shots he fired a few hours ago.

Overall, a pretty good story, most notable for being Adric's last appearance in the Main Range. I'm glad this little set of stories ends on a high too, but even the lowest of lows in these stories have still been well above average.
