Rescued from the daleks - 2/5 (A review Requested by RandomJoke. Thanks for putting me through this mess) The story begins with doctor and Ian on the tardis and we get a look at the tardis landing signal which from my knowledge never again is used before or after this story. Ian is running out of the tardis saying "We must save the scientist" this is how we begin to understand what Ian's morals truly are he wants to save them because he is a good man with a strong moral compass saying they must save him no matter what. This means that Ian is willing to risk his life to save this scientist even without (from our small amount of knowledge) knowing who this scientist is, who captured them and why they were captured. It also gives us a strong motive for Ian this story that this scientist must be saved no matter what . The next slide shows the scientist strapped to a mechanism with the Doctor telling Ian to release the scientist this goes to show that the doctor is an authoritative figure in this dynamic and orders Ian to do things without doing it themself, Ian follows the orders immediately and is seen on this second slide to be moving towards the machine that has the scientist. This also pushes forwards Ian's motive of saving the scientist which he wants to do no matter the cost (See paragraph 1) Slide number 3 shows Ian saving the scientist as ordered by the doctor in slide 2 (See paragraph 2) and the scientist telling us who the main villain of the story is being the DALEKS!(Dun dun duuuun). Slide 4 is a continuation of slide 3 (and so is in the same paragraph) with the scientist telling the Doctor that they created a machine the daleks want and so the daleks have captured them. This clearly shows us the Daleks motivations in this story. And helps the reader be connected with the world more. Then in slide number 5 a Dalek appears with a different design as how we see it in the tv show, this time they are black and blue with a gold rimmed belly, this is similar to a later dalek design as seen in Daleks master plan where a leader dalek is black and blue in different but still similar places. One of the 3 humanoid characters state "A dalek has spotted us" which helps ramp up the tension of the story and makes us want to see what happens on the next slide. Slide number 6 shows how the Dalek is defeated, surprisingly there is only 1 dalek guarding the prisoner and then Ian being as smart as he is throws his Jacket over the Daleks "Tele-eye" which to my knowledge is only called that in these stories and as this happens the Dalek doesn't try to shoot any of our 3 escapees. Then on slide seven as a continuation from this slide the Doctor Ian and Scientist run into the Tardis before the Dalek can see with the Doctor stating "Before he can see we shall be safe" where the doctor clearly genders the dalek without any foreknowledge but I digress. And then our story has ended. As the story comes to a close all of our main heroes have completed their task. One thing I want to talk about is the Tardis exterior in these stories. It looks nothing like the tv design! It has no windows, the door slide open, and it doesn't look like a police box! But that's fine with the limited space to draw anything and there is no space for detail but One slide I want to talk about is slide 3. Slide 3's art is great the red outlines around the Dalek help the reader focus in on the Daleks and helps show how scared our characters should be in this situation but they aren't they stand up in the face of terror and pure evil and fight back. The dalek does a lot in this story for never saying a word. It makes its presence known and makes it feared without a single utterance. It shows what the daleks are in doctor who, something to be feared, something to be scared off, something from your worst nightmares. This is why slide 6 is such a let down, the dalek is easily defeated with a coat of all things. And the doctor and company running away in the final slide. This story has its ups and its downs but sadly most of the story is its downs and so my rating will be a 2/5 Thank you for reading. Would be almost silly to look closer at them and digest them, right? Right..?! You thought wrong. My Boredom has found its way to a new Review, in this Review I will explain EVERYTHING WRONG with 'Rescured from the Daleks´, which it's one of the worst Who Stories EVER and name-drop so many Things for the funsies! Chapter I: Why so serious? "But Random, it's a random-forgotten Kids Comic from the 60s, not really thought to be read all those years later by hardcore fans!" While you, dear Viewer, would be correct in saying this, you must really remember one thing: We are Doctor Who Fans, and we are going to take it as serious as anything. So please don't talk to me about taking a silly Tie-in comic too seriously, if anything, I am not taking it seriously ENOUGH! It's kinda like the Power Rangers, often seen as silly unserious Entertainment, but there are a lot more teeth to the Power Rangers than you might think. For example did you know that most if not all Shows take place in the same Universe? Bet you didn't! Chapter II: Actually, I am not serious. Have you ever watched the Beatles animated Film 'Yellow Submarine', it's the one with the blue meanies and some very surreal Moments, it's a very good Film and I recommend it. Oh right, that doesn't have anything to do with the Matter at the hand, eh? But you see this is a Dalek Story and what Decade was the 60s for the daleks? Dalekmania. And what is the Decade of the 60s as well? Bond-mania? Well I guess. Batmania. Well, I mean, Adam West is the second best Live-Action Batman, so he deserves it. But no, I am talking about Beatlesmania! While there are no Beatles appearing in this Story, they would appear in quite a few other Stories, most notably in the Chase and the Devil's Chord. So yeah, the Daleks are actually the Beatles. Chapter III: Who is winning against the Daleks? The Daleks are a big menace, you'd have to get somebody with a certain presence to them to really be believable against the Daleks, otherwise you quickly turn them into a Joke, and sadly they feel very much done dirty here. While there have been quite a few Stories where the Daleks were mocked, at least then they were fought by Dracula and all those. What's your excuse, Kenner? Why is there no Romana killing a Dalek here? Or Eighth Doctor being messed up again and doing it? Or unlimited rice pudding? Or Katarina from Greek? Or Narvin? Or Mr. Rogers? Or Chuck N- Oh no, I am not doing those Jokes now. What am I? Stuck in the 2000s? No! Never! No! Nein! Chapter 4: Why is the first Doctor not interesting here??!?! The biggest Sin of this fairly unremarkable, boring Comic. You. do. not. make. me. bored. of. the. first. doctor. That's not how it is suppose to go! Chapter 9: Please do read the Big Finish Short Trips instead of those short Comics, I know they are very short and easy to get your Numbers higher and up, but sadly this one is really boring and trying to make more out of it is hard, anyway you should read more Polly Short Trips (Congrats to those who get it, you are the true Whovians.. Who's? Uhh IDK just imagine a cooler Name for you, guys! Sadly this Story is fairly boring, the Art is meh and the Use of Color feels lazy, the Daleks are just there, the TARDIS Team is just there, the Dialogue is just there and that's probably the best way to describe it, it's just there. Really why did I write this Review, it's not very funny is it? Oh sorry.. anyway uhh 0.5/5 yeah not good! The Daleks are back and this time they have kidnapped a scientist (we know he's a scientist because he dresses like Ian but with glasses) because he has made a machine they want. What this machine does we are never told but the Doctor and Ian manage to rescue the scientist by throwing Ian's jacket over the Dalek's 'tele-eye'. It seems there is only one Dalek here which is lucky for the escapees! deltaandthebannermen View profile Like Liked 4 16 November 2024 · 43 words Review by Rock_Angel 1 Decided to do all 16 stories of these I think there basically Ian 1st and Barbara stories the final 2 retell the webplanet with just those 3 but over all there not the best but I think if I was from the 1960s I’d love them Rock_Angel View profile Like Liked 1
