An incredibly immersive audio that takes you to the depths of the ocean with its great sound effects, we have a confined story in a claustrophobic submarine vessel filled with well-distributed mysteries within a well-paced narrative - The TARDIS becomes inaccessible, superintelligent squids, a victim from a 1940 accident still alive after 100 years, K9 acting out against his friends, sea creatures attacking the base, unknown telepathic communications, all this and a little more duly well applied and measured. A perfect structure is created for its Part 2 which completes well in speeding up its narrative and presenting several twists making every minute of the audio something valuable. Beyond great secondary characters, John Leeson steals the show this time, with K9 receiving a utility and significance perhaps never seen on the TV Series. In summary, it's a great audio with strong and very interesting concepts, very immersive, even compelling at times, but honestly, I don't feel it's the best of the season still lags behind "The Justice Of Jalxar" and "The Auntie Matter". This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order. Previous Story: The Justice of Jalxar It's a bit generic. It's a shame because I love stories that are set underwater, I think the limitations it gives you can make for incredibly good stories. This story is not the best but I had a lot of fun with it despite the characters being fairly forgettable. Tom Baker and Mary Tamm are on form and both make a mediocre story into a fun romp.
