A rather silly little story about a Slitheen using a fairground as an ideas board for a planned torture park for humans!  It felt very much like a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip and didn't really depict the Doctor or Rose particularly faithfully.

Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time!

"NO FUN AT THE FAIR: A BRIEF ENCOUNTER WITH A LONE SLITHEEN"

This short adventure follows Rose and the Ninth Doctor as they visit a funfair, only to encounter a lone Slitheen up to some mischief. However, the story never fully develops its premise, offering only a surface-level glimpse at what could have been an engaging setting and plot.

ROSE TAKES CENTRE STAGE

While the Doctor is present, his role is minimal, bookending the story rather than actively driving it. Instead, the focus remains on Rose as she navigates the fairgrounds and deals with the alien threat. While this isn’t necessarily a bad approach, it doesn’t leave much room for dynamic storytelling, especially given the story’s brevity.

A LACKLUSTRE CHASE AND RESOLUTION

The chase through the fairground attractions is disappointingly short-lived, lacking the tension and creativity that could have made it a memorable sequence. Similarly, the way the Slitheen is ultimately defeated feels uninspired, even if it does lean into some graphic imagery. With a bit more time and effort, this could have been a much more entertaining and suspenseful encounter.

VERDICT: A CARNIVAL OF MISSED OPPORTUNITIES

A fleeting and ultimately forgettable tale, No Fun at the Fair never fully capitalises on its setting or antagonist. While it’s always fun to see Rose taking charge, the lack of depth and a rushed resolution make this an underwhelming entry in her adventures.

Just once could a story about a Raxacoricofallapatorian not be about them being a Slitheen, being evil, and then being brutally murdered without hesitation? This is just another story that pays lip service to the idea just they’re not all evil but continues to use them as a generic baddy character. Rose mistaking a random guy for a Slitheen was at least something.
Also what kind of fun fair has an actual water slide?

Another story of fun lighthearted fluff. This story wouldn't feel out of place in SJA I feel, if SJA did one parters.

I like Rose wrongly assuming a safety guy is a Slitheen, in previous Slitheen TV stories all the plus sized characters were Slitheen, so I'm glad to see they do something here to help show that assumption to be wrong. Mainly so very kids don't just assume people are Slitheen and we get more fatphobia from there.

I like how they initially seem to characterize the Slitheen as good as well though, again, more just showing characters harmful prejudices can be wrong. I mean, it's not in that case, but you think it might be for a little. Plus the hunt thing they do is just a fun visual, chasing a person through a fun fair, especially I like the detail that it's slowing down and guiding Rose, wanting the hunt to go on longer (which is inevitably it's downfall)
