Previous Story: The City of Spires

Pretty weak, as far as companion chronicles go. Fraser Hines' narration is fantastic as always but even he can't save a story when it's this mediocre. There isn't really a point in this existing, I feel like either they should have gotten Colin Baker aswell or just not bothered and I say that as someone who loves the companion chronicles.

I quite liked the atmosphere, that's one thing a full-cast story could never replicate. The Reverend is a delightfully evil character played very well by Hugh Ross. Besides all that, I don't get this one. I feel like it would have been much better served as a Second Doctor era story maybe as a prelude to the 6/Jamie stuff.

Next Story: Wreck of the Titan

Jamie, the sixth Doctor, Scotland but where are they heading...

The first time I tried to listen to this I realised I wasn't taking it in, the second time around much the same. So it became more background noise while I was driving. Maybe its the historical setting, perhaps that I feel a little at odds - why are the Sixth Doctor and Jamie travelling together? - I have heard the audios set in the land of fiction from the monthly range, where the sixth Doctor revisits and meets his old companions and maybe I should read up on what I'm about to listen to. But I suspect that this kind of story just doesn't appeal to me.

The Doctor and Jamie are taken in by Reverend Merodach, though safe from the night and whatever creatures might lurk there, might seem a blessing, the Reverand is not such an ally.

Its a narrative heavy first part, again maybe why I didn't follow it much. There is a nice conversation between Jamie and the Reverand in the second episode, but its not enough to lift my overall opinion of the audio.

As I've said I didn't take much in, I'm not sure of the point of it being with the sixth Doctor was, and since we know its not the real Jamie was any of it needed?

Not to my taste, and no desire to listen to it again.
