The quality of writing is strong for a Choose Your Own Adventure. Unfortunately, the story feels like it ends before it begins, when taking the route I explored alongside fellow TARDIS Guide forum members, though it’s clear there were other directions the story could have taken. It would have been more satisfying to be pushed down a slightly longer path, as I didn’t feel I had enough time to get to know the one character we had been introduced to. There wasn’t enough opportunity to flesh them out meaningfully.

This may simply be a result of the format—designed to encourage multiple playthroughs—but as a single narrative, it didn’t quite deliver on its potential. That said, the writing that was there was pleasant and enjoyable, making it a definite improvement over the one other Choose Your Own Adventure story I’ve tried so far. Still, I’m waiting to discover the ultimate, standout version of this type of story.
