The plot of this story almost felt like a video game, in the way that each character had a particular object at a particular point in time they needed to get. Having all the different dynamics in the different eras was quite fun, especially Jane and Rani. A lot of stuff in this was surprisingly dark for a kids show but I dig it. Ultimately, the plot was spread a little too thin over all the different timelines, so I found the end a bit underwhelming.

Another great story! Series 4 has been consistently great. Finally some great Timey-whimey plots, and some great one-off characters.

Time travel episodes should be more fun than this. I suppose part of the issue is they’ve split the story into four, between the main protagonists and the custodian of time, which means instead of one proper story we get multiple separate ones that all feel a bit weak. Good performances though.

SARAH JANE: (reading) The shop's owner, Mister Smalley, who refused to give his age, said he saw a creature twelve feet tall, with huge fangs and red eyes.
CLYDE: What are we up against, the Gruffalo?
RANI: Well, there's only one way to find out.
