I'm aware I am biased keeping in mind my favorite companion is Rory and anything that has to do with him will instantly be perfect to me but... "I, Rorius" shows SO much about him and his personality outside of the Doctor and his direct dynamic with Amy that I completely lose my mind over it. Maybe it's because it's easy comedy but it's just, overall, so, so funny. And when it isn't, the dramatic moments or introspection of Rory's character is great. It's not like they have all the time in the world to do so, but I think that, at least, the pacing is both easy to follow and has enough depth to keep me interested. Side characters are also nice but Anna is definitely the best one. Got attached to her, even :( <3 Tbh, despite the plot being simple, there are so many moments I find endearing and great character work for Rory! We see him struggle in a position of power when he clearly despises the idea of anyone being above others (constant theme with his character) and can't lead properly, not because he couldn't or doesn't have the charm or ability, but because he hates the concept of it and how others react to him so submissively. He keeps on saying Amy would be a better leader than him and that's why he makes this Goddess figure for/about her, not only to excuse himself and, you know, as an obvious way to show his love, but because he keeps leaning into her every time (also, I KNOW he obviosuly makes her "the Goddess of Ponds and other bodies of water" due to the last name, but I can't help thinking it suits the situation so well. It's an easy way to be immersive with sounds, showing the serenity and peace thinking about Amy in his loneliness brings him. Helps him self-reflect, too. Not to mention the whole journey and renewal he goes through at the time). She's his strentgh. Even in their own relationship, it's not that he is submissive because he just is like that or Amy is more than him. It's because he's a lover and a caretaker and not a fighter or a leader. He could, but he just doesn't want to nor isn't. The mere mention of Amy constantly and how much he misses her is enough for me to LOVE this piece. Amyrory owns my heart, what can I say? I love to see him show so much kindness and his nurturing personality to Rome but especially to Anna!!! I adore Anna!! Such a great addition to the story. She's funny and sweet and has amazing chemistry with Rory. Would've been an awesome friendship if it wasn't for the fact that he can't stay. Easy comedy but I kept laughing at the chickens and ducks just because Rory couldn't kill them. My guy is just too peaceful. In general, the whole plot is just a way to show Rory's personality here, and it's more noticeable in this Audio than the last two. This ending is probably the best one and left me a bit heartbroken for Anna, but mostly just... Feeling so much love for Rory and the adoration he has for Amy. It's so overwhelming. I just need to congratulate all of the actors for this one. Started this just because I missed Rory and now I do it even more. He makes me want to rewatch over and over again! rainbownixie View profile Like Liked 0 27 September 2024 · 43 words Review by kiraoho 13.09.2021 Eh, it's fine. It's quite forgettable and of little substance, but it's a working story. Reminiscent of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but probably just because of the audio format. Rory is quite bleak here. Also f**k the anachronism jokes. So tired. 2/5 kiraoho View profile Like Liked 0
