“FOOLED: A FUN FAMILY DAY TURNED MEMORY HEIST”

Fooled is a short but sweet entry in The Sapling arc, taking the Eleventh Doctor, Alice, and the Sapling to a lively medieval-style fun fair. For a while, it’s simply nice to see the trio enjoying themselves, especially Sapling, who delights in the experience like an excitable child. The lighthearted fun is a refreshing change of pace—until they stumble upon an alien jester with a peculiar talent for stealing memories.

A LESSON IN MEMORIES

This story is particularly significant for Sapling, as he comes to understand the true value of memories and why losing them can be so painful. The alien jester is an interesting antagonist—not truly evil, but simply trying to pay off his debts by stealing and selling memories. His motives add some nuance to the conflict, making the resolution feel more about understanding than just defeating a villain.

A VISUALLY WARM EXPERIENCE

The art style is one of the highlights here, striking a balance between stylisation and realism. The warm colour palette perfectly captures the festive atmosphere of the fair, making it one of the more visually charming entries in the arc.

📝VERDICT: 7/10

Fooled may be a short adventure, but it’s an enjoyable and visually appealing one. It provides an important lesson for Sapling, while keeping the tone light and engaging. The alien jester’s motivations add a nice twist, making this a fun, if simple, detour in the Sapling saga.
