It’s an interesting but relatively dry story. I enjoyed the way it incorporates the flashback hologram recording and how the Doctor and Benny interact with it, engaging with history in a unique way. The inclusion of the First Doctor and, presumably, an early iteration of the Master adds intrigue, and it works well as a sort of origin story for their dynamic. It’s also refreshing to see the First Doctor doing things you wouldn’t typically expect from him.

That said, while the framing devices are creative and the concept is strong, the story doesn’t quite overcome its dryness. It’s compelling in idea but somewhat lackluster in execution.
