"The Syndicate's Master Plan", part 6 The title and cover made me think that I was in for another story about a cursed location. And to some extent, I was right. However, for the most part, this play is such a biting mockery of Bond movies that all one can do is applaud during the intervals between laughter. The local Bond - superagent James Wayne, turned out to be very funny. Even Tom gets to play the villain briefly here! And you know... I seriously want Tom to play, or at least voice, a proper villain in DC. The conclusion and final thoughts of this play are similar to "The Crooked Man", and perhaps even a bit simplified, but they still work and leave a pleasant aftertaste. And now it's time for the finale. Let's go. P.S. Honestly, I am very surprised that during either the Fourth or at least the Third era, there weren't series that parodied James Bond movies. These two eras would have been perfect for that! (Translation generated by AI, so mistakes are possible). This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order. Previous Story: Time's Assassin I was really disappointed by the last few stories, so when I heard this I was very much impressed. It's a light bond parody with a lot of funny moments and a solid story running through. The Bond stand-in, Jason Vane is played brilliantly by Gethin Anthony and while he is clearly a parody he's still really entertaining to listen to and manages to be taken seriously quite well. Tom Baker seems like he's having a good time playing a stereotypical Bond villain although I am a bit annoyed that they pitched his voice down, it just sounds silly. I understand why especially seeing as this is an audio drama and you need to be able to distinguish between the two characters but it takes me out of it because his voice sounds unnaturally low. The character of Ann Kelso is sidelined a bit here which I'm noticing is a recurring issue, her characterisation is inconsistent and some stories could essentialy be a solo Doctor.
