Embrace the Darkness is the Eighth Doctors biggest foray into horror so far, and for a respectable chunk of the story manages to be both creepy and atmospheric. Unfortunately, despite an intriguing set up, the denouement falls a little flat, and the only thing worse then an exposition dump is an exposition dump delivered in a voice that's tediously grating. The supporting characters, along with the story as a whole, started to ware a bit thin by the end. Whilst I'm not there yet I'm aware that several years after this Big Finish changed their audio format to being shorter in length and less episodic. Whilst the previous outing, Seasons of Fear, perfectly used the monthly format, this one would have benefitted from the modern format which would have avoided the story feeling stretched beyond its limits.

Still, on the balance I found it enjoyable enough, particularly in its first half. Plus, its always fun hearing the Doctor negotiating with a robot. I'll also credit it for some of the best and most unsettling sound design thus far in the Eighth Doctors run.

A story which felt really intriguing, and had me hooked for the first part, and into the second, but felt it rapidly felt steam. By the end, I was very underwhelmed, and left feeling a bit uncaring about this story by the end. Which is a shame, after such a solid start.

Perfectly okay story, not super memorable. Nice Charley moments, especially her being pissed that Doctor is going to nobly offer himself up as a sacrifice out of guilt, which would leave her in 1)outer space 2)in the future 3)with people she's just met. The Doctor's mistake with lighting up the artificial suns ends up not being a mistake in the end, which felt like cop out, plotwise. And the Cimmerians were pretty chill about it anyways; the Doctor is like 'I'm ready for punishment :(' and they are 'oh, no, it's okay man, we all make mistakes :)'. Overall, the beginning of the story was great and scary (big fan of the Cimmerian's little whisper-y voices), but it got boring the longer it went on. ROSM was nice! The others were meh.

I really love this one, admittedly it’s been a while since I listen to that one, but I remember it quite well. I adore the atmosphere presented here, and I am surprised how graphic it became (just the Parts with their Eyes does give me a bit of an unease, when I first listen to it).
I think this Story gets a bit weaker around the end, perhaps the first two are just SO good, compared to those, the other two feel a little less, I suppose? Yet another one that uses the Audio Medium so well, some may say it even embrace it. The Performances are all well done, and I like how claustrophobic it all felt. India was probably the standout here. Overall excellent.
