This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order. Previous Story: The King's Demons I like my Doctor Who campy and wacky but this might just be a bit much. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it but talking hippo-people (with really annoying voices) and whatever Kamelion is was a bit too silly. That's not to say there weren't parts I liked, Tegan learning to trust Kamelion and almost bonding with him was quite fun, mainly thanks to Janet Fielding. It's a great showcase of 5 aswell, he breaks his spine and is forced to deal with the possibility that that incarnation will never walk again. Iit was quite interesting that the villain was made from Tegan's paranoia and a great way to showcase Kamelion's abilities. Mark Strickson's Turlough was great here and while he retains that sliminess him and Peter Davison's Doctor have so much chemistry that you forget Turlough was once conspiring against the Doctor. Overall, it's one I'd probably like more with a re-evaluation. Quite frankly though I can't be bothered to do that so it remains a pointless story and a rough attempt at something comedic to me. Jon Culshaw as Kamelion was really great though. Next Story: Black Thursday Like Liked 1 Open in new window Statistics AVG. Rating25 members 3.18 / 5 GoodReads AVG.
