Previous Story: The Vanity Trap

It took us three whole stories before we got one that finally explored the Doctor and Peri's relationship post-trial even the slightest bit. I'm not sure that it's as good as it could've been though. A lot of the good character moments are muddled up thanks to the framing device which makes it hard to grasp exactly what's going on even while giving it full attention.

The Freudian Institute is a very fun setting and it's something really only Nev Fountain could have come up with. The framing of the story as the Doctor and Peri talking to robot versions of Sigmund Freud as their psychologists is very funny and got us some interesting insight on the characters' personalities.

Weirdly this story brings up Dodo a lot. Probably the last place I expected to get a semi-resolution/explanation to her abrupt exit in the middle of The War Machines. This aspect of the story specifically gives us a lot of good insight into how the Doctor views his travelling companions but it does feel a bit jarring.

Overall, this story is great but it's not without flaws.
