Do you remember watching Day of the Doctor? Imagine that, but listening to an audio.

It's a lot of fun to hear Tom Baker interact with the other Doctors, as well as have one more romp with two iconic companions - He's so full of life and Guy Adams manages to recreate the different ways that the Fourth Doctor would act when with different people - with Leela, he's often brash and aggressive, but with Romana, he's whimsical and serious at the same time - but when he's on his own, he's deadpan and ready for a massive encounter with his future selves. It's a joy to hear Tim Treloar return as the Third Doctor, because his impression is amazing. The Fifth Doctor is characterised pretty well, a lot of fun and has a lot of strong chemistry with the other Doctors, often arguing with them. However, he felt a bit sidelined in comparison to the other incarnations, not even getting a proper introduction, which is disappointing. Like he says himself - too many cooks!  Whilst the First and Second Doctors do feature, they're only cameos - fun and enjoyable ones at that (That moment where they showed up made me squee and dance about my room), and so the Third Doctor is the youngest Doctor to have a main role, but it's great that he is ultimately the one to save the day, with help from the others. The Second Doctor uses the Tenth Doctor's hammer to hit the TARDIS, and the First Doctor is criticising everyone - like usual then. Those small moments are purely fan service and I love that they added that in, even if it does nothing to further the plot, which is quintessentially Big Finish! The interactions between Leela and Romana were so interesting - it's great to know that the two become very close friends once Romana returned to Gallifrey (although it felt a little bizarre at first considering we'd just left Romana in E-Space.) Both of the companions were characterised amazingly and as the leads of the story for half of it, they did a fantastic job in terms of performance! It's great to see how the two eras contrast by the ways the companions led the story - this really is a love letter to the Fourth Doctor's era, which is especially lovely considering that it's the penultimate Fourth Doctor story.

The Sirens of Time return! Of course they do - what an ingenious move to have the very first monsters way back in 1999 be the featured villains. Their sound design is phenomenal, and it's amazing to hear how the production has progressed over the past 20 years. However, I struggled to understand what it was they were doing, cos it's been an awful long time since I've heard The Sirens of Time, so it took me a while to understand, and I think that's a massive problem with this story; it expects you to remember the Sirens when they've only been in one story previously - their earliest story, and it's very unlikely that the listener has heard it recently unless they knew that the Sirens were in it. Their plan was a bit confusing too, I don't really get what changing time does to them, I'm assuming they're like the Weeping Angels in which they feed off temporal distortions - and I'm not entirely sure on how they were defeated - Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they saved the day by all the Doctors piloting the first TARDIS? They were average villains, they served the purpose well, but your enjoyment of them entirely depends on how well you know the Sirens.

It's great that we explore some more of Gallifreyan mythos without some massive game changer. Henlen is a stereotypical jungle planet, and nothing too interesting audibly, but the Gallifrey stuff is good. That's all I really have to say.

It's good that there's no side characters cos it means we can focus on the core cast which is the Doctors and the companions.

This is a great story in terms of fan service - I adore it so much, the characterisation is phenomenal, but the plot itself is a little confusing at times, but it builds on the lore of Big Finish so well. Enjoyable and epic!

This was easily my favourite story from this set. I love Leela and Romana, haven't heard them in SO long, which just made it hit even more. The scene where 4 dies in front of Leela had me starting to cry, just so emotional. Likewise, the scene with the Doctors at the end? Oh that had me going. I still find it weird that this series is sold as a set, but is made just like Once and Future where you can listen to any story without the other. As a set, you expect the opposite, which is what I even wanted from O&F. Hopefully the next anniversary release has more cohesion story-wise.

I think the inclusion of 1/2/10 was just too much, wasn't needed albeit quite funny. I'm very glad we have Michael Troughton because Fraser's 2was really not good here.

Part six in the Legacy Of Time release

Leela and Romana remember adventures they had with the Doctor, same place different times, so why didn’t the Doctor remember he’d been there before?

So two stories are relayed, One with the fourth and Leela and the other with the Fourth and Romana. Not as confusing as you think. Sometimes with two lots of the same characters its easy to forget which one you’re listening to.

The Doctor is a secondary character (as he seems to be quite often) with Leela and Romana taking the leads.

There is some interesting things going on. The flight of the first ever TARDIS for instance. I did enjoy the two stories motif.

The “theme’ or series arc has been a little thin on the ground, most of the stories could be quite happily enjoyed on their own. Not that thats a complaint. But this is where it all comes together that being the time distortions.

Spolier section

The final part of this is where all the Doctors come together and there are some nice cameos. One thing is that Tom/the Fourth Doctor is part of the multi Doctor bit. He’s always been a little isolated in the past, here he’s very much one of the gang, and its well worth the listen.

Spolier section

A nice audio, a good series.

It’s a little slow but as soon as the final 3rd happens it’s perfect and I immediately light up
