Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time! “AMY'S ESCAPADE – A SHOPPING TRIP WITH NOTHING IN THE BAG” Amy's Escapade drops Amy Pond into a space shopping mall—an ideal setup for some madcap sci-fi fun. Unfortunately, what unfolds is more a leisurely stroll than a whirlwind adventure. The TARDIS team lands, and while the Doctor lounges and Rory wanders off, Amy gets her own mini-side quest. But the results are disappointingly lightweight. The central conflict involves a young boy stealing doughnuts, which leads Amy to uncover a looming invasion from a reptilian species. She foils the threat by stalling the invaders until the Judoon arrive. That's it. No deeper themes, no emotional arcs—just a brief flash of action in a space bakery and a resolution that relies entirely on delay tactics. A STORY WITHOUT A STATEMENT The story moves briskly but leaves barely a trace. There's little character insight, minimal tension, and no meaningful payoff. It’s a filler vignette that doesn’t really know what it wants to say, nor does it offer anything new about Amy. She’s bold, quick-thinking, and charming—but we already knew that. Even the setting—a vast, bustling space mall—is barely explored. There's no sense of scale or spectacle, and the whole thing feels oddly small and inconsequential. The invading reptilian aliens are just a plot excuse, and the Judoon's appearance feels like a quick narrative shortcut rather than an earned climax. 📝THE BOTTOM LINE: 5/10 A featherlight tale with barely enough substance to fill a doughnut, Amy’s Escapade is a forgettable filler story that neither deepens its characters nor makes the most of its setting. Fun enough while it lasts, but instantly forgettable. MrColdStream View profile Like Liked 1 16 October 2024 · 65 words Review by JayPea Spoilers 3 This review contains spoilers! Again, Amy is written pretty out of character here. It's what a little girl would imagine Amy's character to be, so I can understand why she's written like that but like, it's still bad. The adventure as well feels quite childish and it's wrapped up incredibly quickly. Generally this works for what it is, but I can't exactly give it any more credit than that.
