Halfway done! This episode had some really solid acting from Jorjie, and Darius was pretty alright too, unfortunately that side of the episode was let down by a rather lackluster script. You can tell where that conversation is going, but hey, it's still performed pretty well and the acting gets you invested with the characters (even if this relationship drama is a bit silly and I don't get Jorjie's attraction to Starkey at all). Nice that there's some series spanning plot going on even if it is this. The science I don't think *quite* works with reality, but hey, it's fun, and leads to another surprisingly fun monster design. I'm not sure the world needs to be in danger every time there's something like this, I think keeping the stakes more localized would have been just as if not more effective, but hey, it's fine. I also quite like the interaction at the end when everything's wrapped up with K9 asking what love is. It's not a big moment, but it's fun and feels real. Barking through time and space, one adventure at a time! “PLAY IT AGAIN, STARKEY!” Annoying Kid plays the guitar, so I respect him more now. All the terrible music and singing drives me crazy, and that is sadly a key element of this episode. It’s like a really badly made version of The Devil’s Chord. There’s another storm coming in. Last time this happened, we ended up with a decent episode. This time we get some of the worst visualisations of storms and their effects I’ve ever seen. They are clearly going for a proper drama here, but it just never feels like it, despite the real pickle Forgettable Girl finds herself in and the storm supposedly wrecking most of London. Annoying Kid plays the hero yet again, K9 does nothing, and Smug Face pops up just to remind us all that he is very smug. The Forgettable Girl part of the plot isn't too bad (there’s even a sweet little character moment here, once Annoying Kid arrives to save her!), but all the stuff with the Aeolian feels very tacked on and so messy. Seeing Annoying Kid so sad once he realises that Forgettable Girl fancies Bad Starkey and not him is the first time I sympathise with the kid. The Aeolian looks like a fancy version of Alpha Centauri from the Peladon stories in Doctor Who, and the concept isn’t too bad, even if the execution is. I really love the alien force in this one being a master of music who uses music almost as an elemental force to communicate - this obviously gets out of control. There’s some genuine emotion and character development too in the form of a love triangle. Unheard of Like Liked 3 Open in new window Statistics AVG. Rating29 members 2.05 / 5 Trakt.tv AVG.
