The IDW annual stories do skew more towards children than the rest of their comics in my opinion, which is great for their intended audience but makes it hard for me to get too invested - as the stories lack the usual complexity. I like the framing device of Amy keeping a diary about her adventures l, perhaps more could have been done with that.
