One of my favorite Who Christmas stories—some of the Christmas specials withstanding. I love a good Christmas ghost story. This is Rose’s first venture into the past and it’s such a fun adventure. Her dynamic with the Doctor continues to be excellent, especially when we get to see more of their conflicts in morality. Charles Dickens plays such a lovely role in the story, both in the celebrity historical aspect and his more philosophical musings. And Simon Callow absolutely kills it in the role. With a well-acted small ensemble behind them, Rose and the Doctor take the past by storm and I think it’s a great episode.
