These audios are kind of interesting in their own right. Produced apparently years ago early on in the pandemic, everyone behind the scenes is still clearly new to remote recordings and were eager for the opportunity to still be working in a tumultuous time. But then Big Finish went and releases them years later, right around when the Fourteenth Doctor specials were airing. I admire them, I guess, keeping these stories in reserve just to release them with pretty perfect timing, but it is all a little weird.

It's that sort of unusual tone that so far has carried through this audio set for me. While not bad, in fact, I quite liked the exploration of the Doctor during World War II. It's a time period we're all a little to obsessed about that Doctor Who refreshingly doesn't focus on all that much, so when it shows up here it didn't really feel that unwelcome to me. It's interesting seeing the Doctor who mercy to a Nazi and maintaining his code in such harsh circumstances. That sort of stuff carries a pretty standard monster plot, along with the character of Ilsa Johansen, a member of the resistance in Norway.

Our actors do a decent job but Jason Dudman's Tenth Doctor doesn't quite feel anything on the level of his Eleventh Doctor. I'm not sure this one is really worth it unless you can get it for a heck of a discount or as part of a good bundle. From what I can tell, the scripts for these sets feel like ones rejected or simply not used with David Tennant, so they just aren't quite as strong as those adventure sets.
