Review of The Talons of Weng-Chiang by Jonathan_

This episode manages to still be pretty good despite the racism. People are disapearing and the Doctor is investigating a Chinese magician. This really feels like a Sherlock Holmes story rather than a Doctor Who episode, right down to the outfits.

Li H'sen Chang is the one trying to stop the Doctor for most of the story and he is probably the most interesting character here (other than Leela maybe). It really is a shame they did not get a Chinese actor to play this role because it's really held back by the fact that it's a white actor in yellowface.

Leela's development in this story and Jago & Litefoot are probably my favorite aspects. Litefoot teaches Leela about Victorian manners and Leela teaches Litefoot how to eat meat like her tribe does (which was very entertaining) and she seems to get less murdery as the story goes. Jago & Litefoot's banter was great as well.
