The Story and the Engine felt fresh and inventive and featured some very interesting concepts. I love that it was a story driven by many stories within it and the concept of the story engine I also thought Abby and the Barber were very compelling characters and enjoyed the twist of their connection to Anansi. The set and atmosphere really drew me in, and I loved the idea of the Story Engine and the maze to get to its center especially. This story gave Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor a chance to shine, from the fascinating stories he told to his fight against and choice to forgive the barber, which felt in line with his character to me.I also loved the centrality of black stories, history, and culture in this episode. I wish the episode had more clearly explained Abby and Anansi's connection to the pantheon, though, so it could be tied more thoroughly to the overall plot. I really loved this story, and in my opinion it was the best of Season 2, so I'll give it a 4.5 out of 5.
