Review of The Song of Megaptera by thedefinitearticle63

This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.

Previous Story: Point of Entry

I think this might be my favourite 6th Doctor lost story so far. While it's still as era-accurate as the rest of them, it never feels like I'm watching a Season 22 story but with my eyes closed. It feels like something Big Finish could feasibly put out nowadays. It's a simple, but really fun story. The acting is on-point here and 6 and Peri are great fun to listen to. It's got memorable side characters and at times you're more interested in what's going on with them than what's going on with the Doctor and Peri.

I think the reason I like this story so much is that it doesn't fall into the trap of seperating the Doctor and Peri that Season 22 constantly fell into. They have a really fun dynamic and splitting them up really ruins that. As always an excellent score but also a really great soundscape aswell that helps to bring the space whales to life.

Overall, it's one that would have been very interesting to see on TV, although I think this is one of the few cases where I think it's better on audio than it would've been otherwise.
