Review of The Power of the Doctor by timeywimeythespian

20 June 2025

After having been into Doctor Who since 2015 (although I took a break from early 2020 to early 2024), I have finally finished all of New Who. It's strange how there will be no more New Who until the next season of Doctor Who. Is that how everyone else who finished it way before me (or watched it all as it was airing) feels? I don't like it. "The Power of the Doctor" was the first time I've seen anything with Ace or Tegan, but I already adore them and can't wait to reach their eras in Classic Who. This episode is proof that you can throw in a billion plotlines and villains and former companions in a big finale, but still have it be a fun (if not chaotic) time. It was a bit much, but it felt like a genuine celebration of Doctor Who. I will miss seeing Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor on my tv screen, but that's what the upcoming 13DAs are for. Goodbye to revival era Who, which fundamentally altered my brain chemistry and is missed.
