I wish I liked this one more but it was a step down from Fugitive of the Daleks. I think a lot of the problems actually came from the direction, a lot of the first episodes are a bit confusing and muddled. The first breakout attempt in particular was difficult to follow. There are also too many characters, the prisoners and Desperus could've been cut to make it a four-parter.

Peter Purves gives a very interesting affable performance as a nearly 100 year old Steven while he is shocked to see the Doctor you'd almost expect him to be even more shocked. The storyline with his dead daughter Dodo is good though, and his cries of anguish upon seeing Dodo Chaplet when he thought he'd see his daughter were heartbreaking. The most unexpected part of the story was how we get an ending for Dodo running an animal rescue.

Ultimately for this send up to The Daleks' Master Plan, I wanted to like it more, but it seemed a little muddled especially early on. A version cut to four parts is likely a lot more successful.
