Review of The Library in the Body by MrColdStream

📝6/10

Thworping through time and space, one adventure at a time! This time: creepy singing monks!

MY SCATTERED AND TOTALLY IRRELEVANT NOTES:

I love how Benny is snatched away by the Unbound Doctor in the middle of a lecture because he needs her help to save what’s left of his dying universe!

What is this absolutely lovely retro Doctor Who theme remix? I love it!

Benny’s dry humour and slightly cynical nature are unleashed right away, with Lisa Bowerman perfectly capturing the character. The late David Warner is criminally good as the Unbound Doctor, very determined and no-nonsense, like a more focused version of Hartnell.

This one has a pretty interesting atmosphere, with singing monks, forbidden knowledge, and Cyber people. However, it comes across as a bit disparate to me, or perhaps I simply didn't focus enough. What it does well is hint at this Doctor being a real danger, which keeps Benny on guard.

The Kareem are an interesting concept, but I couldn't really get a good grip on them.

The Master tease is good and makes me want to move on to the next one.
