Review of The Dalek Protocol by thedefinitearticle63

19 May 2024

This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.

Previous Story: Shadow of the Sun

The return of the Exxilons, again. Briggs seems to really like the Exxilons for some reason. I'm indifferent to them, I think the only TV story they were in was just boring. By all means, this should have been a boring story, but I honestly quite like it. It's got it's faults but it's a fairly good Dalek story. K9 wasn't as prevalent in the story as I'd want him to be but that's just because I like K9.

I did like quite a few things, the Dalek's convincing Mark Seven to work for them by using a loophole in their interrogation demonstrates that the Daleks can be quite clever. It's also unique to show Daleks who aren't trying to dominate the entire universe as their main priority and are instead trying to save themselves.

In timeline order, this is Leela's last adventure with the Doctor before 'The Invasion of Time' and it foreshadows her leaving, it's a nice little moment between Leela and Anya.

"Before you scuttle off like the neurotic pepperpots you are, may I ask you a question?"
