Após terem um contato inicial, o Doutor, Vicki e Steven descobrem que tudo isso está vinculado a um instituto científico que acolhe jovens mentes que ao passar do tempo acabam como desaparecidos. É aqui que entra a vilã Karna, uma maníaca psicopata obviamente aliada aos Daleks.

A química entre os três personagens Doutor, Vicki e Steven é absolutamente encantadora, cada um deles possui sua utilidade muito significativa para o decorrer da história. Eu amei a forma como o Peter Purves imitou e reproduziu o 1° Doutor, é claro que ainda está bem longe de atingir um timbre bem semelhante - Mas nesse caso relevamos, pois tudo soa mais como uma homenagem carinhosa ao icônico William Hartnell do que de fato alguém querendo chegar a uma tonalidade perfeita.
