Though it may not be the greatest Doctor Who story ever written, "The Ashes of Eternity" is entertaining and well worth listening to. my favorite thing about this story was the villain. Though the villain itself could be considered bland because it just possessed characters, it was aphoenix that lived in the sun, and I thought this was incredible. I don't think I've heard a Doctor Who story that revolves so closely around the sun, and this made the story stand out somewhat. In addition, the supporting cast was strong. Peggy serves as an interesting foil to our main characters, particularly the Doctor, as she constantly questions him, holding him accountable for his actions and the consequences of those actions. Even so, we receive glimpses into her private life, such as her relationship with her wife, and these allow us to sympathise with her even as she challenges characters we love.
