Previous Story: Enemy of the Daleks

What a story! It's technically not a pure historical thanks to a hypersonic laser scalpel that Hex brought with him but it's close enough. Surprisingly timey-wimey as it plays with the recurring idea of the Doctor having influenced events before he even arrives which is something that's been very prevalent throughout McCoy's run so far.

This is a brilliant character piece for Hex, diving into his motivations to become a nurse. His dynamic with Florence Nightingale in particular is quite enjoyable and the idea that he might have inspired her by accident is quite an interesting one (although you could argue it sort of tries to take away from her accomplishments (but I don't really think it was presented that way)).

Ace gets some solid stuff where she befriends Tolstoy. I think their chemistry was quite good but it definitely wasn't the focus of the story. I'm aware the whole white TARDIS stuff will be expanded on but it feels really odd and inconsequential in this story.

Also, what a genuinely shocking cliffhanger. I really hope the next story doesn't fumble that but given it's got "project" in the name (and considering my past experiences with the "project" stories) I'm not too hopeful. Great story though, I really liked it.
