SAME REVIEW AS KILL THE DOCTOR!
This wasn't anything to get your hopes up - just a pointless runaround.
Tom Baker tries his hardest in the first half of the story, and I'm interested in what's going on, but by the end I just want the story to be over. Everyone REALLY hates him in this story, don't they? I bet you guessed that though, or the story would be called "Hug the Doctor!" Leela's penultimate story (I'm not listening to Time Vampire, his CCs are trash.) and again, she's better in the first half. It shows her how far she's gone across the course of her tenure, becoming a mini Doctor in her own right, and confronting Sutekh. It was a decent idea but it just came out stupid.
Can I just say, I've written for Sutekh in my fanfiction, but I still handled it better than this. He's extremely wasted in the first part, and then he's just completely mishandled. In Pyramids of Mars, he was a freaking God, and now he's just another monster of the week. Thumbs down here.
Some really fun world-building here. I liked the idea of technology controlling everything, with someone's personality being judged by their dress sense, not via an actual conversation with them, and it sets up Sutekh's return fairly well.
The side characters were fairly interesting and worked well in advancing plot, as well as advancing the Doctor and Leela, especially Kendra. I think it works better that they have four episodes to fully flesh them out. Leela's attempt to help them revolt definitely reminded me of the Sun Makers.
There are some redeeming elements, but honestly it isn't worth the rest of it. Season 7 started out as extremely promising, but it ended really poorly.
