Very much run-of-the-mill, but nothing exciting.
The Doctor and Leela feel a lot like their TV counterparts, and I could see Leela in this suburban environment, acting very savagely indeed, whilst the Doctor spends time investigating with Thelma from over the road - I enjoyed both characters on their adventure, whether together or alone, especially as Leela's time is coming to a close, and the development of her character is clear.
The monsters were generic, and reminded me of the Wirrn, which were far superior. Also, I didn't like how the characters reacted to them when they killed their friends and spouses, just shrugging it off nonchalantly. Their plan was also a bit stupid, going for Belinda for some reason.
I did enjoy the setting of the suburbs - I think that everyone settled there very well and works excellently for a Williams era-esque story. It's quite creepily used and does sometimes remind me of Horror of Fang Rock when they're under siege.
I've already mentioned how I dislike the side characters. They all clearly hate each other, which makes me wonder why they are friends, and react extremely poorly when faced with death or fear, being incredibly unrealistic. However, that is totally down to the writing and not the actors themselves - I really enjoyed their performances.
It's a decent base-under-siege story, but not one I'm keen to go back to.
