WHEN IS A WEEPING ANGEL NOT A WEEPING ANGEL?

This story transports us to an alien world, where we encounter the eponymous slow beasts in a playful satire on a safari. The beasts are living statues that move so slowly that we cannot perceive their movement—a bit like Weeping Angels in reverse.

Although we don't see the creatures much, the truth behind them is intriguing, and the themes explored here are pertinent. This is a critique of colonisation at the expense of native populations.

The performances are good, the story itself is pretty straightforward, and it takes a good while to get going properly.
