This is John Dorney at his best. It mixes the emotional punches of A Life In The Day and Absent Friends with a thrilling story.
Liv is right there with Charley as one of my favourite 8th Doctor companions. She calls out the Doctor when he deserves it, and I love it.
I found it easy to imagine everything that was happening in this audio, so props to the audio design for that. I usually get lost when there are loud sounds that muffle the voices of the actors, but here everything was crystal clear in my mind.
Plus the whole idea is so cool, original, and exciting. And the ending is just perfect, open ended, leaves you wondering with enough hope that the characters will make it.
Dorney is singlehandedly keeping my interest in Big Finish alive. I haven't enjoyed any story in this set (or Dark Eyes) that wasn't written by him, which is a shame, but these stories more than make up for it.
