Properly imaginative stuff (magnetic sands, alien landscapes, and a deviously-written emperor) paired with glorious retro action and pulpy art.

Some unfortunate moves prevent me from giving this a wholly positive review; it has a tiresome "capture-and-escape" structure, and there's a properly wince-inducing bit of racial-coding (the handsome, Aryan man must rescue his other caucasian friends from the dark-skinned, big-lipped slave owner - urgh!). Still, given that these are problems that the comics inherit directly from classic Who, I'm surprised to see them getting such a mixed reception here.
