I loved the prose in this short but energetic story. A full life is breathed into a character who's existence only ever lightly flickered onscreen. We learn of their multiple lives; their talking parrot; and their space-pirate rollicking adventure vibe. Matt Smith's reaction to their demise will surely have greater impact for anyone who has read this. Even the idea of the infinite staircase is a charming one. There are so many little hooks which give a peak into a bigger universe. A little treat.
