The Thirteenth Doctor #23

'Old Friends' (2019) from Titan Comics.

Really fun story here - definitely one to re-read in the future. Big fan of the bait-and-switch with Missy and The Corsair. I'm glad the story focuses on The Corsair instead though, because she's such an interesting character and I like how she's cropped up a couple of times now in The First Doctor's era and now The Thirteenth's. For just a throwaway line in The Doctor's Wife, it's awesome to see her become somebody actually tangible. I'd love to read all of the other stories relating to her, and hope she gets even more adaptions in the future (although for obvious reasons this may not come about now unfortunately). The Fam take a bit of an obvious back-seat here, but the relationship between The Doctor and The Corsair is cute, their sapphic-stylised dynamic is a bit baity but I suppose in character considering that everybody writing Doctor Who media apart from Chris Chibnall tacked onto the fact that 13 was queer.
