"Obsessions: A Brief Interlude of Manipulation and Reflection"

Obsessions, the opening story of The One collection, offers a short but introspective interlude set entirely within the TARDIS. The narrative revolves around a discussion between the Doctor and Alice about the nature of obsession, while Abslom Daak delves deeper into the ship in his ongoing search for his wife.

Though the story doesn’t break any new ground, it serves as a poignant character piece, drawing parallels between the Doctor and Daak. It subtly reveals the Doctor's manipulative side, as we learn he knows the truth about Daak's wife but subtly steers him away from continuing his search.

📝Verdict: 6/10

While it’s far from essential, Obsessions adds a reflective tone and a touch of emotional depth to the collection, making it an intriguing, if not particularly groundbreaking, start.
