In the Stars is a short comic strip featured in Doctor Who Adventures as sees the 11th Doctor and Amy visiting Babylon in 905 BC. An astronomer called Urtaki is mapping a new group of stars which turn out to be an alien smart weapon.
The Doctor and Amy discover it cannot stand its own reflection and they get the locals to surround it with mirrors. When the sun rises, it deactivates and the Doctor and Amy leave.
This is a very slight story, the norm for Doctor Who Adventures, covering only four pages.
Babylon is depicted quite nicely, but could really be any ancient civilisation. Urtaki is the only native we hear speak and again, he could really come from any ancient civilisation.
The resolution is very similar to the end of Kinda, with the monster being defeated by mirrors, and there is even some dialogue which seems very similar.
All in all this is nothing significant but it is nice to see some more unusual periods of history appearing in a children’s publication – especially as most of the Doctor Who Adventures’ comic strips tend to be set on weird planets rather than recognisable periods or places.
