Arguably a better 50th anniversary story than Day of the Doctor as the Eleventh Doctor is caught up in an adventures that starts off simple but then escalates as he's reunited with his first human companions Ian and Barbara. The reason behind their involvement goes back to their very first adventure and the consequences of what they left behind that fateful day. The way the comic ties into An Unearthly Child and following up on the tribe of cavemen who've become powerful beings thanks to the manipulation of god-like entities is a great way to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who. With a welcome return of Ian and Barbara and really highlighting just how much of an impact they had on the Doctor's character that has stayed with him all these centuries later as we get a great sequence showing moments of the Doctor's life all throughout the show. We also get the answer to how the TARDIS became stuck as a police box and the role it plays in the climax, not to mention our two beloved original companions getting the wedding day we all wished to see. Hunters of the Burning Stone is a fantastic feel-good comic celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who by showing us where we began and how far we've come
