Review of Gobbledegook by thedefinitearticle63

20 July 2024

This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.

Previous Story: Effect and Cause

I would give this story a 5 out of 10 but I'll bump it up to a 6 just because the general vibe of the story is so endearing. Not to mention it's actually got a fairly interesting concept of a species losing their culture and forgetting their language, though I think it could have been handled better.

Velar is a fun character, a perfect companion for Doctor Who. How could you not love an aging armadillo librarian. Dan Starkey does a good job reading this, his voices are distinct and in general he doesn't bore me. His 5 impression is passable for a story in this sort of format aswell.

Overall, It's a story that I like the idea of more than the execution and it could have been a lot better.
