It’s rare that a Doctor Who comic manages to deliver the quantity of new and original ideas that this one does. Alternate reality stories have become a well worn trend in recent years, but here it feels fresh, and a way of providing a compelling “what if?” scenario.
What if The Doctor and the Brigadier died in and around the time of Doctor Who and the Silurians? What if Silurians had been living side-by-side with humans and this was under threat? What if another version of The Doctor traveled across universes to save the day?
It is a story that succeeds on every level and for me is one of the all time classic comic stories, given its various twists and turns.
Separately, it’s a relief to see Ace in the TARDIS again. McCoy’s Doctor sings that little bit better with her in the picture, even if it is the “badass” version.
