This comic was originally intended for Incredible Hulk Presents but was moved to Doctor Who Magazine, presumably because the comic section was cut from the former series. The shift to Doctor Who Magazine allowed it to expand from five pages to six and include some preamble to tie it into the magazine’s ongoing storyline. However, its origins are evident in how light it is on plot. Incredible Hulk Presents comics tend to be more frivolous, low-impact, and uneventful compared to the Doctor Who Magazine stories, and this one is no exception. Not much happens—the Doctor goes back in time, invents the game Conkers, and defeats a Viking. It’s entertaining enough, but there’s just not much to it.
