This is part of a series of reviews of Doctor Who in chronological timeline order.
Previous Story: The Silent Scream
This story starts off with a very compelling mystery, the first part is quite surreal and strange. The idea of a 1940s submarine floating in the middle of space is something that feels quintessentially Doctor Who. Dethras is a very intriguing character from the start aswell.
In the second part though, it basically all gets explained and returns to your usual sort of adventure. This is by no means a bad thing and the explanation of events is great. The always-adapting people are really fun aswell and they are used quite effectively for the resolution.
My only complaint with the story is that the main villain is a bit flat but they serve their purpose in the story so I can't fault them for that.
