This doesn’t wholly work; the instant messenger set up is a bit flimsy, and, in hindsight, this is largely significant for being a grab-bag of things Moffat will revisit over the course of his tenure.

However, I found this truly terrifying as a kid. My cousin received the Storybook this appeared in for Christmas that year, and I genuinely think I lost sleep after reading this story. Shivers.
