Well, listening to this box set a second time in preparation for the next one has been worth it, as I remembered some things but there were some I had completely forgotten (which is pretty meta given the Time War).

It picks up right after the amazing The Road Untravelled and continues with Alex's conflict with the Doctor. The weight of this story is carried by the big cliffhanger at the end, so I felt that it wasn't really structured as a proper story (you know, with a beginning, a middle and an end). Even then, the last 10 minutes are amazing, introducing alternate universe Timelords-Sontarans (wtf), Alex kidnapping Cass with the TARDIS leaving the Doctor stranded (see what I did there) forcing him to go through the Door with Friend.  I also loved the red herring with Borrow or Rob, which actually refers to Alex and not the Doctor

I'm really excited for the next box set (it is actually the first one I preorder, I went all in and got the physical too as the cover is gorgeous). I like that the 8th Doctor is back to having proper character development and personal stakes in stories, as I felt that with the start of the box sets we never really got back to having quality character writing for McGann, or at least not in the same vein as with Charlie in the Main Range or Lucie with the last season of 8DA. I'll be reviewing every story in Pursuit, so let's hope I have good things to say.
