Found this story to be very boring. It isn't really about anything. All good doctor who stories do things like exploring themes, or investigating concepts, but this story is just 2 hours of uninteresting mysteries and boring action.
The biggest disapointment though would have to be the soundscape. Red Rocket Rising is a very similar setting to the planet from The Last. The Last has a wonderfully rich soundscape, with the rain constantly flooding the listener's ears, yet the relative silence at times reminding you of how few lives remain on the planet. A similar direction could have worked well for The Blood of the Daleks. Instead, we are left with a very empty soundscape. We never hear the enviroment, meaning we get all of our understanding from the dialouge which weighs that down too. We dont even hear anyone's footsteps! All that remains is some very generic background music that barely even fits the tone sometimes.
All that being said though I like Lucie. This story sorta wastes her but its easy to imagine that in future stories her dynamic with the doctor will be a lot of fun. The doctor himself is also pretty great. I love how much of an asshole he is when hes stressed or depressed. My least favourite trope in doctor who is when writters treat the doctor as the most speciallist boy in the room and this is the complete opposite of that.
Overall very skippable. If you want a story about the end of the world listen to The Last. If you want a good dalek story, theres a couple, but I listened to Brotherhood of the Daleks the other night and I really enjoyed it (I should probably review that too, sad that I only get motivated to review stuff I dislike). However, its not literally the worst thing to ever exist, so 2/10.
